- Discuss themes in "SLOWM"; practice writing own theme statements.
- Substitute Day
- Grammar worksheets, Nouns Practice, WriteSource workbook (Complete pgs. 69B, 72-73 first and then complete 69A-71, 74 afterwards (it's review from last week). All pages are due tomorrow. This will be graded.
- Tutoring hours are moved to the morning for today only
- Last day to turn in supplies/letter
- Review difficult problems from grammar worksheets from previous day.
- Socratic Seminar: HOMS Discussion/Dialectical Journal Discussion (D.J. for pages 1-20 due)
- Correct errors on grammar worksheets, pgs 69B, 72, 73 (On a separate sheet of paper, write down the page #, problem #, and explain why the correct answer is correct, e.g. "p. 69B, #2. "Julius, Baby of the World is a predicate nominative because it follows a "be" verb and it renames the subject, book." Due by Monday for a higher grade.
- Grammar quiz #2
- Read and discuss the poem "Fifteen" as a class and imitate a structured paragraph response to the question, "How would you describe the boy in the poem?"
- HW: Read HOMS pages 21-34. Make an 7 entry D.J. describing the characters in Esperanza's neighborhood. Create 5 L2 questions about the text as well. Due next Wednesday.
