- Expository Essay #3 (Major assignment): Write an essay explaining why it's sometimes necessary to take a chance. (First draft due by the end of class (intro, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion). Your essays will be revised by another English I teacher next week; you'll be conferencing with the teacher to understand how to better write your expository essays. I will explain the process more as soon as I am given more information from the coordinator.)

- Discuss next week's schedule (Monday/Tuesday we will be conducting revising circles where students conference with another English teacher and revise their expository essay #3 draft. A separate reading assignment AND the final draft is due by the end of Tuesday; on Wednesday, students will complete a reading diagnostic test which needs to be taken seriously as it could determine whether a student takes a reading class next year in addition to English II. 1st period needs to meet in the E Building Go-Center lab, 4th period will meet in A-20, and 7th period will meet in the Go-Center lab.)
- Finish reading and taking notes over "The Scarlet Ibis" (take notes over character, conflict, figurative language, foreshadowing, and tone)
